Blake's Diary
  8/4/2003:
On 7/22/2003, I had another surgery on my eyes (my third). Since birth, my tear ducts have been scarred over, preventing my tears from draining. The result is that it looks like I was always crying (I wasn't, I swear!). There can be long term consequences also, so it is really important that we get this figured out. This surgery was to remove tubes put in during the previous surgery. We should know within a couple weeks whether or not it worked, so please pray for me! My mommy and daddy say that my eyes already look a lot better, so keep your fingers crossed!

Although the surgery itself went well, I had a very rough time coming out of anesthesia. This seems to always happen to me when I go under (this is my 4th time!). I felt awful and confused, so I cried uncontrollably for 1 solid hour. Mom and Dad tried their hardest, but there was nothing they could do. After I was able to calm down, I went to sleep for 6 hours. When I woke up, I had a temperature of 103 degrees and still felt awful. My parents were very worried and were able to bring my temperature down to 100 fairly quickly. I overheard them say that it was very dangerous because I don't have many sweat glands to cool myself. Because of my temperature, I then broke out in an awful rash with blisters. The rash still itches, and the blisters are just now starting to heal. I was miserable for 2 weeks. Oh man, I am glad that is over!
